Kinetic sculpture, let me do it for you Darling, incorporating tool-shed, kitchen-based and other domestic objects, creates a technical but unsophisticated hypothetical replacement for domestic human labour. Presentation as an artwork elevates the assemblage beyond a solution to a simple household task, rather raising it to a position of grandeur and expectant admiration. However, exaggeration and tone, informed by the work’s title, reframe this presentation as satirical.
