Hyperfixation (2024)
5 x 10 x 1 cm
Engraved Batman licenced keychain.
Hyperfixation employs an everyday “merch” object, in a humorous way, to examine struggles around concentration, distraction and comfort. Although being completely consumed by an interest or topic can be a driving force when art making, an inability to control this focus can feel detrimental. Using a mass-produced keychain, juxtaposed with engraved words expressing a hopeless vulnerability, this work attempts to express an inner immobility that is carried like an object.
